PEM volunteer and sponsor inclusive sports day with Power2Inspire.

Last week 12 volunteers from PEM took part in Power2Inspire’s PowerHouse Games for an 8th year running. PEM have been involved since the conception of the event and sponsored the first one back in 2018!

John Willis of Power2Inspire runs the PowerHouse Games with the aim being to ensure no one is left on the bench. This year, teams were made up of a PEM volunteer, Cambridge University football students, Landmark School students, St John’s College School students, Castle School students and Rowan charity service-users. PEM have previously supported Rowan with a grant, so it was lovely to see some of their service-users again.

Along with sponsorship of the event, we always provide 12 volunteer team-leaders who help run the event, whilst getting stuck in with accessible sports! This year we took part in boccia, new-age kurling, goalball, sitting netball, walking football and sitting volleyball. It was a great event with over 90 participants, making it the biggest ever!

Our people are given two days of volunteer leave per year to use to support the local community. Power2Inspire’s PowerHouse Games is always popular!
