PEM host Deaf Awareness sessions with Cambridge Deaf Association.

Last month was Disability Pride Month, which provided an opportunity to promote education, inclusivity, awareness, and support for individuals with disabilities. An important part of this is improving understanding amongst non-disabled people and helping them to be better allies.

We were fortunate enough to host Deaf Awareness sessions at both our offices with Cambridge Deaf Association. The aim was for our people to learn more about what it is like to be deaf or hard of hearing, and learn how best to communicate with them.

“The Deaf Awareness session from Cambridge Deaf Association was really insightful.  We learnt how to sign the alphabet, our names and useful day-to-day things like feelings, food and hobbies.  We also learnt how to be compassionate, inclusive & understanding to the Deaf community both in and out of the workplace.  Katie & Lauren were excellent hosts and made the session fun and enjoyable.”

A big thank you to the team from Cambridge Deaf Association for running the sessions!
