Mental Health Awareness Week may be over but the focus on supporting positive mental health remains front and centre for teams at PEM.
For a third year running, our Wellbeing Ambassadors hosted a jam-packed schedule of events last week to mark Mental Health Awareness Week.
This year, the theme was ‘community’ and events were planned which gave our teams the chance to come together and grow their networks within PEM. As well as hosting teambuilding events and volunteer mornings, over 150 members of our team got involved in netball matches, webinars, quizzes and pizza lunches. We also had people making the most of their volunteering days and joining Cambridge Sustainable Food and Cambridge Acorn Project, to lend a hand with cooking, gardening and packing!

59 members of team PEM also took part in a step challenge, smashing our target of 3 million steps to pull together to hit a collective 5.6 million! This was the second year of our step challenge and once again it was a great opportunity for people to get away from their desks, get outside and talk to other members of the team.
Amy Hayden, PEM’s ESG and Community Lead, said:
“Mental Health Awareness Week is a great opportunity for us to remind our team of the support that is available to them at work and the importance we place on having time to look after yourself. I’m really pleased that we were able to give everyone a wellbeing hour, which they could use as they wished to do something positive for their mental health, like an extra-long lunch break with friends, a walk or early finish to see family.
As an organisation, we are committed to supporting positive mental health for all our people year-round, not just internally but also by doing our bit to contribute to the wider Cambridgeshire community. On top of offering two volunteer days each for team members to use for causes of their choice, in the past 12 months alone the PEM Charitable Trust has gifted over £4975 specifically to mental health projects and charities in Cambridgeshire, including Blue Smile, Hope Bereavement, Sew Positive, Cultivating Change and Ormiston Families”.
