Director, Charities & Not for Profit

Judith is Director of Charities at PEM and heads up the firm’s charity group. She is one of the very few in professional practice to have attained the charity sector's specialist qualification. Judith’s clients are mainly drawn from the charity and not-for-profit sector and owner managed businesses.

Manager, Audit

John is a Manager in the audit group, with a wide range of clients including local companies, charities and Cambridge colleges. He joined PEM in 2002, following training at a 5 partner firm in Stirling and post qualification experience at Scott-Moncrieff in Glasgow. He particularly enjoys working with charities and is a member of the Charities Business Development Team.

Manager, Business Services Group

Caroline has a varied portfolio including charities, medical-related partnerships and individuals and owner-managed businesses. Caroline’s charity clients are diverse in their objects but are generally of the size to require an Independent Examination.

Manager, Audit

Lee manages a client portfolio consisting of Independent Schools, Academies and Cambridge Colleges as well as other charitable organisations and owner managed businesses.
Lee is also currently an active member of the Governing Body of a local primary school and chairs the Finance Committee.

Audit Partner

Laragh is responsible for a mixed portfolio of corporate and not for profit organisations. Her not for profit clients include registered charities and companies limited by guarantee. Laragh has a particular focus on education and works with a number of colleges, schools and academies.

Accountant

Alison works for a variety clients within the audit department, both corporate and charity clients. The charity clients have a variety of objects but the majority are charitable groups. She leads the onsite audit team as well as preparing the statutory accounts for a number of these clients. She is currently completing the ICAEW Diploma in Charity Accounting at Cass Business School.

Manager, PEM VAT Services

Rebecca is a Manager in the VAT department. She is particularly active within the charity sector and has extensive experience in dealing with the many VAT issues that affect charities and not for profit organisations. Through her knowledge and expertise she has been able to secure the withdrawal of large VAT assessments by showing them to be incorrectly issued by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). In addition she has identified and submitted a number of substantial VAT claims on behalf of clients and by assisting HMRC in the verification process has obtained payment of these. With her expertise in VAT property law she has helped many charities and not for profit organisations save hundreds of thousands of pounds on building projects by providing proactive and timely planning advice.
