Case study: Raising finance for Bourn Hall Clinic

Bourn Hall Clinic acquires ISIS Fertility Centre

We take a look back our finance raising support for Bourn Hall Clinic, the largest independent fertility services provider in the East of England.

Bourn Hall was the world’s first IVF clinic, founded in 1980 by the scientific pioneers, Mr Patrick Steptoe and Professor Robert Edwards.

With their main treatment centre based in Bourn in Cambridgeshire, Bourn Hall Clinic continues aims to be a supportive sanctuary for anyone having difficulties conceiving. The clinics within the Bourn Hall group carry out more than 2,000 treatment cycles per year.

Mike Macnamme is the Chief Executive and leads the senior management team. Mike has over 20 years scientific and management experience in the field of infertility.

PEM Corporate Finance has supported Bourn Hall Clinic on three separate transactions, the most significant being was independence from its pharmaceutical parent via a management buyout process in late 2005.

We caught up with Mike to find out more about the business, why the directors sought investment to fund growth, and how PEMCF helped to find and secure private equity investment.
