Our Services
Audit and Accountancy
The production of accurate and timely year end accounts is essential for assessing past financial performance and planning for future development. Many organisations require those accounts to be audited and presented in compliance with legal requirements.
At Peters Elworthy & Moore our accounting and audit services are designed to meet the needs of our clients and enable them to obtain maximum benefit from the accounts.
From private and public companies, partnerships and sole traders to charities and institutions, we provide expertise to organisations which operate throughout all sectors of business and industry.
The Service
Planning the year end accounts and audit well in advance is as important as the audit itself. By discussing your needs and highlighting our own responsibilities, we are able to ensure that the audit process is as simple and as beneficial as possible.
Detailed discussions prior to the audit determine the objectives and the extent of the work, such as:
- highlighting areas which are of concern to management
- the timing and detail required
- our involvement with internal departments
- other areas which may require assessment and review
We always work closely with your own accounts department to take full advantage of the work which they carry out. Our staff then assist you in the final preparation of accounts to ensure that they comply with statutory and other accounting requirements. We place particular importance on providing continuity of staff from one assignment to the next so that you are dealing with people familiar with your business.
Our audit approach is designed to satisfy us that your accounting systems form a reliable basis for preparation of year end accounts. As part of this process we undertake a review of your systems and controls and recommend any improvements or changes that may be appropriate. This incorporates a review of your management accounts and reporting procedures.
We aim to provide a prompt and efficient service, completing audit assignments and finalising accounts as soon as possible. Once complete, we discuss with you key findings of the audit and assist in identifying from your accounts those aspects of your business which can be improved.
The Benefits
We aim to make sure clients get the best out of their annual accounts and audit.
Rather than simply being seen as a statutory annual cost, the audit is able to provide:
- a means of assessing strengths and weaknesses, thus leading to improved profitability
- an effective and regular means of identifying improvements to internal systems and controls
- reassurance to banks, creditors and other users of the accounts
- the opportunity for discussion of future development and tax planning strategies.
