Specialist Sectors

In order to bring specialists together to serve specific market sectors, PEM have created internal Teams for 8 key industry areas, one of them being Medical. These focused teams reinforce the quality of service and advice offered to our clients from all related service areas within PEM.

Medical

Peters Elworthy & Moore (PEM) specialises in providing a full service to our wide range of Medical Clients, which include a number of GP practices and medical consultants, as well as self-employed GP locums and salaried doctors.

GP Practices

Following the introduction of the nGMS contract in April 2004, there have been significant changes to the way in which doctors are remunerated and pensioned and it is, therefore, more important than ever that Practices receive specialist advice and support from their accountants. At PEM we can assist with all aspects of your affairs, leaving you with more time to devote to patient care. The services we offer include:

• Preparation of year-end accounts in accordance with recommended format, including various statistical information to measure financial performance
• Preparation of Partners' professional expenses claims
• Preparing Partnership tax computations and tax returns
• Preparing Partners' Self-Assessment Tax Returns
• Preparing Annual Certificate of Pensionable Profits
• Assistance with bookkeeping / VAT returns / budgets / quarterly management accounts
• Consultancy e.g. financial implications of surgery construction/improvement, PMS etc.

PEM is recognised as specialist medical accountants by AISMA (The Association of Independent Specialist Medical Accountants), having gained membership by submission of our accounts etc. to a peer group within AISMA. AISMA is a national organisation comprising 70 member firms who specialise in acting for doctors. See AISMA for further details.

Consultants

We have worked with consultants for many years and understand the needs of the medical profession. PEM help you look after your business affairs, so that you can concentrate on your specialist field. We can provide the following services:

• Preparation of Private Practice accounts
• Preparation of Self-Assessment tax returns
• Assistance with bookkeeping
• Dealing with deferment of National Insurance Contributions where consultants are both employed and self employed
• Advising with regard to pension contributions and other financial services matters
