PEM Charity of the Year
East Anglia's Children's Hospices
As part of PEM’s ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) was nominated by staff as the firm’s Charity of the Year for 2011.
EACH supports families and cares for children and young people with life-threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk providing care and support wherever the family wishes – in families’ own homes, in hospital or at one of their hospices in Ipswich, Milton and Quidenham. EACH relies on donations to cover the £4 million a year needed to deliver their services. You can learn more from their website: www.each.org.uk
We kicked off our 2011 fundraising programme with a ‘St Valentine’s day themed’ Book and Bun sale, which has now been followed by a Easter Egg Raffle and Cake Sale (these are becoming a bit of a tasty event at PEM)! Partners and staff baked and donated a fantastic array of cakes, biscuits and pastries and donated Easter Eggs for these 2 events, raising over £300 for EACH.
22 PEM partners and staff laced up their boots and trained hard for the famous 3 peaks challenge which took place on 24th-25th June. The challenge entailed climbing the three highest mountains in the UK - Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the lake District and Snowdon in Wales all within a 24 hour non-stop time limit. It was hard work but we had good fun and are proud to say we achieved what we set out to do. Further plans in the fundraising pipeline include holding a Staff BBQ, Dragon Race Team Entry, Cupcake Week Bun Sale and a pub quiz.
